A-Cindy and Dave Frick – 4425 Old Highway 100 Directions: From Fifth Street (near Sleep Inn) turn East on Old Hwy 100 (Rodney’s Rentals) and go east approximately 2.4 miles to the home. Built in 1890 by Fredrick and Catherine Kleekamp, this home has been in the family for four generations. Beautiful architectural features included in the homes renovation are the mantle and the newel post at the staircase, that were in the original Bank of Washington on Front street in the 1800s. You will enjoy several generations of family art, including needlework, which features local historical sites and depictions of Santa. This federal style home still features tall ceilings, beautiful woodwork and other architectural details. Renovation features a wonderful kitchen that includes contemporary appliances and counters, while maintaining historic styled cabinetry.

B-Andy and Linda Voss – 1600 Zero
Directions: From either Fifth Street or Hwy 47 take Madison Avenue (which passes Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church) and go west (only way you can) on Crestview Drive, where it ends at Zero Drive, turn right and the house is on your right. This 3 bedroom home was built in 1973, and features many custom details by Andy Voss. Family heirlooms you won’t want to miss is the antique china cabinet, which Linda is the 4th generation to cherish. The most outstanding feature of this home will be the Christmas trees, at least 10 of them, in every design and style!! Unique, beautiful, and yet traditional, this home will definitely awaken your holiday spirit!

C-Jane & Richard Brinker – 4 Wheatly Court
Directions: From Hwy 100 turn south on Washington Heights (near Barreth Auto) to Lexington Lane then turn right and go two blocks to Wheatly Court, or from Hwy 47 you can take Bieker Road to Lexington Lane and go two blocks. Built in 1990, this beautiful home overlooking the lake features many heirloom antiques and a very special Dickens Christmas village. Holiday decorations abound in this home! Besides the beautiful heirlooms filling the home, you won’t want to miss vintage clothing or antique quilts decorating this home. The lower level is a very special treat.

E-Tim Jones – 314 West 4th Street
Directions: located In historic downtown Washington on the south side of Fourth Street between Elm and Cedar Streets. This home was built by the Jasper family in 1912 on the site of the famous Tibbe windmill that powered the prestigious homes along Cedar Street in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Built in a Arts and Crafts style, the home underwent some renovation in the late 1920s to include the popular Colonial style. Today the home is filled with a beautiful and eclectic style, after being restored to its original single family style by the Jones family, for which it received WPI’s Preservation Award in 2001. The dining room ceilings is beautiful, as is all of the woodwork throughout the home. You won’t want to miss the lower level with the original – and perhaps the only one in Washington – and truly unique Murphy bed.

I-Kohmueller House – corner of Grand and S. Lake Shore opposite Lions Lake. From Fifth Street turn right on Grand, pass the YMCA and turn right before the lake, the gate is on your right. Built in 1879, by a farmer and clayminer Henry Louis Kohmueller for his bride Charlotte Ruether. Kohmueller was one of seven children born in the log cabin on the farm, originally purchased by his father Fredrick Kohmueller in 1843. The small brick house was home to a family of four children and other adopted relatives. The Kohmuellers were the only family to ever own the property, which was given to the City of Washington and undertaken as a preservation project by WPI in 1989. The home is fully restored and used for several educational and historical events throughout the year. A typical family Christmas of the 1880s will be displayed here.

G-Dorris Keeven-Franke – 7 East Second Street Directions: This home is located In historic downtown Washington on Second Street between Market Street and Jefferson Street. Built in 1896 for Minna Krog, the house serves today as The Guest Haus Bed & Breakfast and the home of Dorris Keeven-Franke and family. The small brick house is typical of the over 450 homes built throughout Washington by Herman and Henry Beinke. This historic home won the 2002 WPI Preservation Award for the restoration done by Andy Unnerstall. It still features many of the original historic architectural features, including the pocket doors and wood floors. The home is filled with many German antiques and Christmas decorations.

F-Washington Historical Society Museum – 4th and Market – FREE Directions: The Museum is located in historic downtown Washington on the corner of Fourth and Market Streets. The Museum’s newest exhibit of the Washington Turnverein is exceptional, as are all the exhibits featured here. Stop in and visit with Director Marc Houseman who is a wealth of information on the history (and the cemeteries) of Washington. If its history you’re looking for, this is the place to come.

H-Mid-Missouri Fine Arts – Front Street - FREE - NO TICKET NEEDED Directions: Located int the Washington Visitors Center & Washington Amtrak Train Station. This is located in historic downtown Washington in the Mid-Missouri Fine Arts Gallery on Front Street near Elm Street. Stop by and enjoy some refreshments while viewing the beautiful artwork on display in the Gallery. Visit with local artists who have artwork on display and available for purchase. Here is an opportunity to purchase a gift that the recipient will enjoy for years!

D-Homestead at Hickory View – 1481 Marbach Drive – FREE – No ticket required TANNENBAUM AUCTION – DECEMBER 1ST THROUGH DECEMBER 13TH. Directions: Take Fourteenth Street from either Jefferson St or Hwy 47 and turn south on Marbach Drive (near Fire Department). Don’t miss the first annual Tannenbaum Auction! Beginning on December 1st you may visit the Homestead’s silent Christmas Tree auction, where fully decorated holiday trees in every style line the hallways. All proceeds of the auction go to the restoration of the South Point School House. Winning bidders may claim their trees at 8 pm on December 13th, when the Holiday House Tour concludes. Here is your chance to leave the Weihnachten Festivities all ready to begin your own new tradition right in your own home, with all proceeds going to a worthy cause. |
